Virtues and Jurisprudential Rulings of Masjid al-Nabawi ﷺ: A Specialized Study in the Light of Sihah al-Sittah

Abstract

This research paper offers a comprehensive academic inquiry into the virtues, jurisprudential rulings, and prophetic etiquette pertaining to Masjid al-Nabawi ﷺ, based primarily on the Sihah al-Sittah and authentic Hadith corpora. The study moves beyond conventional historical narratives to explore the mosque's sanctity through its ontological connection to divine revelation and its "Taqwa-based" foundation (Ussisa ala al-Taqwa). Key thematic areas include a scholarly synthesis of debates regarding the specific identification of the "Mosque of Taqwa," the exponential augmentation of spiritual rewards for prayer, and the unique status of knowledge-seeking as equivalent to Jihad. A significant contribution of this research is the critical evaluation of contemporary administrative and legal challenges—such as the digital permit system (Nusuk), mobile photography within the sanctuary, and the validity of multiplied rewards in the expanded areas of the mosque. These issues are analyzed through the jurisprudential prisms of Maslaha Mursalah (unrestricted public interest) and Sadd al-Dhara’i (blocking the means to evil). The findings assert that the spiritual and academic benefits of the Prophet's Mosque are intrinsically linked to the adherence to Sunnah and the preservation of its sanctity. This study ensures a rigorous scholarly bridge between classical Islamic tradition and modern-day complexities, providing essential guidance for both pilgrims and researchers.
